I always recommend purchasing a good reference guide to help guide your oil usage and empower you to make safe, healthy choices for your family. I highly recommend the book “Gentle Babies” by Debra Raybern - wonderful resource for mamas and little ones. You can snag one over on Amazon for around $12 - direct link over on Resource + Tools page.

Start out with these dilution ratios and adjust your use from there:
*Infants - 1 drop of EO to 30 drops of carrier oil (tablespoon)
*Toddlers/Young Children - 1 drop of EO to 15 drops of carrier oil
*Older Children/Adults - 1 drop of EO to 2 drops of carrier oil

5 drops Lemon
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Peppermint

Add to a 10ml roller bottle, fill the rest with a carrier oil and shake! Apply to the bridge of their nose and behind ears.

4 drops Thieves
4 drops Purification
4 drops Lemon
5 drops Purification
5 drops Thieves
3 drops Frankincense
3 drops Lemon
1 drop Oregano

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle, fill the rest with a carrier oil and shake! Apply to bottom of feet and down their spine each morning and before bed. I also recommend diffusing 3 drops Purification, 3 drops Thieves and 3 drops of Lemon when you fall under the weather.

4 drops Lemon
4 drops Tea Tree

5 drops RC
4 drops Lemon
4 drops Purification
3 drops Thyme

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle, fill rest with carrier oil and shake it up! Apply to back of neck and upper back.
I also recommend diffusing 4 drops of RC or SniffleEase at night when having respiratory issues.

5 drops DiGize
2 drops Peppermint

Add to a 10ml roller bottle, fill with carrier oil and shake well. Apply around their belly button. Game changer!
My boys also LOVE TummyGize oil that was made for their little bellies through YL’s KidScents line. It requires no dilution and we apply directly around their belly button.

Frequency of application for rollers:
For general immune support, just 1-2 times a day or less is good. I’ve even found that when I use oils right after we’ve been somewhere where I think they’ve picked up germs, they stay well with just 1-2 applications afterward.

When their immune systems need more support, I apply the oils 2-4 times a day. Essential oils metabolize in the body in 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so you can technically apply that often.

Very fun and easy to make at home (only takes about 5 minutes) and one jar is plenty enough to last you through the season.

30-40 drops of SniffleEase
1/2 cup of coconut oil
2 tbsp of beeswax pastilles
4 oz glass jar

1. Stir the beeswaz and carrier oil together over low heat until just melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add the SniffleEase and stir the mixture with a toothpick.
3. Pour the melted vapor rub into a 4 oz. glass jar.
4. Allow the vapor rub to harden completely. Take approx 2 hours.
5. To use, scoop out a small amount and run onto the chest, back, and bottoms of feet. Then go snuggle that baby and reapply as needed!

When our little’s are burning up it can be frightening! Just remember, the body fights off foreign invaders by releasing heat, and this process is helpful for healing. The body has a powerful way of moving through the process on it’s own, but essential oils can bring comfort.

1 drop of Peppermint oil

Dilute appropriately and rub down spine, back of neck, and around belly button. Make sure children are not able to touch the areas where oil is applied. You can use this every 30 minutes to an hour, or as needed. You can also rub a couple drops of Frankincense on the bottoms of feet, down spine, back of neck and around belly before layering with diluted Peppermint.

20 drops Thieves
10 drops Lemon
2 oz distilled water
1 oz witch hazel
2 tsp Vitamin E

Combine all in a 4 oz spray bottle and shake well before use. I recommend spraying on anything that needs sanitizing!

**Kicking the germs to the curb with Thieves Cleaner:

8 drops Tea Tree
8 drops Lavender
8 drops Frankincense
carrier oil of choice
distilled water

In a 4oz spray bottle add Tea Tree, Lavender and Frank oils. Fill the remainder of bottle with equal parts carrier oil and distilled water. Spray the affected injury area after cleaning with soap and water. Lavender and Frankincense have powerful regenerative properties when used on the skin and Tea Tree is wonderful for making sure things stay fresh and clean.

3-4 TBSP coconut oil
10 drops Peppermint
10 drops PanAway
10 drops Copaiba

In a glass container (with a lid), whip up your coconut oil with a fork until smooth and creamy. Then add the oils one at a time whipping together after each one. Cover and store in a cool, dark place. This recipe is really great for any kind of soreness or tension. Apply it just like you would lotion - on back, feet, neck - and feel the warming effects of Peppermint help relax away those tired little muscles.

2 drops Lavender
3 drops Tea Tree
2 drops Cypress

Combine with 8oz distilled water in a glass spray bottle. Great for when little hands reach for the stove or curling iron. :(

When it comes to thriving kids, the ability to focus on the task at hand is obviously pretty important. While I certainly love my crazy children, I also want to put only the best and most natural things in (and on) their bodies to help keep their brains on one track.

Want to hear something cool? In 2001, Dr. Terry Friedman held a study on the effects of certain essential oils on children who experienced difficulty with concentration, were easily distracted and displayed fidgety behavior. Twenty of the kids had normal/healthy focus while the other twenty were wanting/needing focus support. The essential oils chosen for the case study were Lavender, Vetiver and Cedarwood. Each subject was tested on each oil for 30 days and then reevaluated by testing. Then another oil was used for 30 days and reevaluated, until each of the oils had been tested.

FINAL RESULTS: Lavender increased performance by 53%, Cedarwood increased performance by 83%, and Vetiver increased performance by 100%!!! How AMAZING is that?!

10 drops Cedarwood
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Vetiver

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle and fill the rest with carrier oil. Roll behind neck and ears, on shoulders, and on big toe. This is a great blend of oils to stimulate the limbic system. These particular oils have been chosen for their calming properties, as well as their ability to achieve mental clarity.

5 drops Valor
4 drops Frankincense
4 drops Lavender
4 drops Cedarwood

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle and fill the rest with carrier. I roll down Cooper’s spine and behind his ears. The bottom of his big toe, too. This roller is great for boosting confidence and promoting feelings of strength/courage.

2 Peppermint
2 Vetiver
2 Geneyus

3 drops Frankincense
3 drops Copaiba

1.5 cups unscented liquid castile soap (Dr. Bronner’s)
2 T fractionated coconut oil
10 drops of Lavender or Gentle Baby

Stir together liquid castile soap and fractionated coconut oil. Add in essential oil of your choice and mix well. Store in a soap pump dispenser for easy use at bath time. Added bonus - Lavender and Gentle Baby are both wonderful calming oils, so not only are your littles getting squeaky clean, their bodies are winding down and preparing for a good night’s sleep!

1 cup epsom salt
1/2 cup baking soda
6 drops of essential oils of your choice (Lavender, Stress Away and Copaiba are relaxing options!)
1-2 tbsp coconut oil

In a quart size glass jar mix together epsom salts and baking soda. Add 6 drops of oil, screw on lid and shake well. All the EO’s to disperse into the epsom salts for 5-10 minutes. Fill a bath with very warm water and add the coconut oil directly to it. Dissolve the bath salt mixture into the bath water. Soak for 20 mins to get the full effect.

Epsom salts help raise your magnesium levels and draw out toxins from your body. The coconut oil is a very effective moisturizer and will leave your skin feeling smooth after the bath. And finally, the essential oils will help support relaxation, healthy skin and great sleep!

1/2 cup cold pressed, organic coconut oil
6 drops Lavender
6 drops Peace & Calming (or Cedarwood)

In a small glass container with lid whip the coconut oil with a fork. Add Lavender and Peace & Calming oils, whipping well after each addition. At bedtime, give your littles a gentle foot rub with their special Sleepy Cream. We put on socks afterward to avoid getting oil on sheets. Sweet dreams!

3oz distilled water
1oz witch hazel
3 drops Lavender
3 drops Gentle Baby

Mix all of your ingredients together in a 4oz glass spray bottle. Shake well. Just before bedtime, spray once or twice on pillows, blankets or crib sheets. Cooper loves to spray this one for me to make his brother sleepy.

3oz distilled water
1oz witch hazel
3 drops Lavender
10 drops Valor

Mix in a 4oz glass spray bottle and shake up before each use. Cooper likes to spray under his bed and on his pajama’s when he’s a bit hesitant to go to sleep :)

Witch hazel can be conveniently purchased over on amazon. It helps to distribute the oil throughout mixture since oil and water naturally repel.

Joe’s “Sleep like a TANK!”:
4 drops Cedarwood
3 drops Orange

Mama’s Stress-Free Sleep:
3 drops Lavender
3 drops Stress Away

Knock Out:
4 drops Cedarwood
4 drops Lavender
4 drops Valor - optional

3 drops Lavender

Sweet Dreams:

You can also dilute 1-2 drops of an above oil appropriately and apply to bottom of feet. If you find an oil or combination that works for your littles, I highly recommend making a convenient roller bottle for easy use, too! So many wonderful options!

15 drops Orange
12 drops Valor
10 drops Release

Fill the rest with carrier oil and roll onto your kids’ wrists, back of neck and feet whenever needed!

Diffuse Lavender, Peace & Calming, Ylang Ylang or Roman Chamomile

You can also dilute 1-2 drops with 1 tbsp of carrier oil and rub on bottom of feet.

10 drops White Angelica
10 drops Stress Away

Fill the rest of 10ml roller with carrier oil. Roll behind neck, ears and on temples.

Sweet baby bums! How cute are they? Let's keep them healthy!

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and EVERYTHING we put on it is absorbed. Just think about that for a second! It is SO important to make sure we are not rubbing things onto our littles that can cause infertility, cancer and disease. Let’s take care of their precious bodies and be in control of what we allow in our homes and on our precious kids.

1/4 cup organic coconut oil
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Gentle Baby
(all of the oils above are incredible skin support oils)

Whip coconut oil with a fork until soft and creamy. Add essential oils, whipping well after each one. Apply to baby bum at every diaper change, or at the first sign of redness. Coconut oil is the perfect carrier oil for a diaper cream because of it’s natural yuck-fighting properties, but it does begin to melt at about 75 degrees. If you live in a warm climate, consider stirring 1-2 tsp of melted beeswax into your coconut oil. This will give your cream a higher level of moisture protection and help it to remain solid at warmer temperatures. 100% pure beeswax pellets can be purchased over on Amazon or at any health food store.

For those Mamas who don’t always feel like DIY’n, Young Living makes an awesome diaper cream called Tender Tush! It’s amazing, safe for our kids and for cloth diapers, too. It’s also GREAT for those expecting and concerned about stretch marks ;)

5oz Shea Butter
2oz avocado oil
3oz coconut oil
20 drops of Lavender
20 drops of Tea Tree

In a double boiler, or makeshift one using a pot and bowl, melt shea butter just until it is soft enough to combine with other ingredients. Pour into the bowl of a mixer and add avocado oil, coconut oil and essential oils. Whip together until smooth and creamy. Store in an airtight glass container.

1-2 drops Lavender
1-2 drops Melrose
1/2 tsp carrier oil

Combine in palm of hand and apply over affected area. YL’s Tender Tush and Rose Ointment are also wonderful to use!

Earaches break my heart! Especially when your little has the sickies and all the congestion pressure is building up in there, or worse, turning into something yucky! They can’t relax or sleep because lying down can be painful.

Here are some tips to provide them some relief:

Oil recommendations: Lavender, Cedarwood, Melrose, Purification

Apply 1-2 drops in 1/4 teaspoon of carrier oil. Dip a cotton ball and apply to all outer surfaces of the ear, then behind the ear and down neck. Also apply to feet 2x daily. Do NOT put oils directly into the ear.

Additional recommendations: Thyme, Geranium, Thieves

In a glass jar or bowl mix the following:
3 drops Lavender
2 drops Geranium
2 drops Thieves
3 drops Melrose
2 drops Thyme
3 drops Purification

Add 3 tsp of carrier oil. Then dip a cotton ball quickly into the solution and rub on outer surfaces of ear, then behind the ear and down neck. Use this 3x per day to reduce pain and irritation.

These techniques also work well for adults.

For young babies, apply diluted Frankincense, Copaiba or Orange to the gums and along the outside of jawline. You can also apply diluted Lavender to the outside of the jaw for additional soothing.

For older children, you can also use diluted Clove on the gum and tooth area.

All of these oils will bring soothing comfort to your little ones so they are able to sleep great, eat and drink with ease. They’ll be happy campers in no time! And so will you!

So, all you have to do is dilute 1-2 drops of oil of choice 50:50 on sore areas twice a day! I just apply with my finger, but you can also use a q-tip.

I feel you, tired Mama! Running on little sleep, raging hormones, demanding children, everyone touching and needing you all the time, never-ending laundry.. I’m with you all the way!

Here are some of my favorite ways I like to find relief:

Attach that convenient roller fitment to your bottle of Stress Away and use at all times. Add Frankincense for an extra kick in the pants!

Diffuse Lemon and Peppermint to uplift your mood, wake you up, and get you feeling encouraged!

Apply Lemon and Frankincense on the back of your neck and base of skill to help fight that Mommy brain we all know and despise.

Add 2 drops of Stress Away and 2 drops of Lavender into a handful of epsom salts and mix into bath. A great way to come down from a rollercoaster of a day!

Add 1-2 drops of Peppermint to your brownies.. then hide those suckers and eat them in peace!

Grab some coconut oil and PanAway and rub away. Or better yet.. make your Hubby do it!

Diffuse Thieves + Purification or Purification + Lemon while your guests are over to help everyone stay healthy. Plus, it smells good!

A drop of Joy over your heart will do the trick! and adding Valor in the mix sure won’t hurt!

One word- Purification.

6 drops Frankincense
5 drops Bergamot
5 drops Orange
3 drops Grapefruit
2 drops Clary Sage

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle and top off with a carrier oil. Roll on wrists, behind ears and back of neck.
This is great for when you need a little boost and pick me up!

15 drops Stress Away
10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Patchouli
5 drops Valor
5 drops White Angelica

Combine in a 10ml roller bottle and top off with carrier oil. Roll on temples, wrists and back of neck.
This is a wonderful blend when you have children to look after, house to be managed, meals to be cooked, animals to be cared for, carpools to coordinate - and you’re left feeling depleted and STRESSED. Keep this handy and roll away. Great for Dads, too!

Young Living has six KidScents oil blends that are specifically formulated for kids! They are pre-diluted, totally safe and can be diffused or applied topically. I love that no dilution is necessary and I can apply easily on the go. You can just slap on a roller fitment and apply! Super convenient, right?

Whether you homeschool, public school, private school, or unschool.. you know that our kids need focus throughout the day! This oil is INCREDIBLE for that. It helps Cooper stay on task, focus, concentrate and block out distractions. Diffuse of apply topically before school, or during homework time. This oil blend contain Blue Cypress, Cedarwood and Ylang Ylang amongst others.

This blend calms the body and soothes the tummy with Peppermint, Spearmint, Fennel, Ginger, Tangerine, Anise and Cardamom… just to name a few! I will never, ever, ever go without this oil for my boys. Keeping their little tummies happy on the go is magic!

This bad boy promotes great sinus function and supports the respiratory and immune systems. It is a combination of several of the Eucalyptus oils, Peppermint, Ravintsara, Lavender, Palo Santo and many more. Breathe easy, little ones. And yes.. I use this for myself all.the.time. It’s one of my top 10 favorites!

This blend supports the body’s natural healing process and soothes sensitive skin with a combination of oils such as Tea Tree, Elemi, Clove and Helichrysum. When you cut a Helichrysum plant, it quickly regenerates, heals and continues growing; it’s nickname is “everlasting”. Hmm.. no wonder we love it ;) We just pretend we are a plant, too.

I love sleep and I love it when my kids sleep. I hear it happens really easily and really well when this oil is involved. I actually haven’t experienced it yet… but boy do I wanna! It is said to help our kids’ minds and bodies relax and get incredible rest. It’s a blend of Lavender, Geranium, Roman Chamomile, Tangerine, Bergamot, Frankincense, Valerian and Rue. Diffuse when it’s time to settle down for bed. I hear you won’t be sorry!

This blend supports healthy skin and soothes minor irritations from bites. Want to keep those little annoyances away? Mix a few drops with some witch hazel and water in a glass spray bottle then apply a thin layer on exposed skin and they will steer clear!

Here is an easy chart to reference when applying oils to bottom of little feet. I tend to just slather all over, but if you’re aiming to focus on a particular issue this is a great place to start!

Vita Flex Technique means "vitality through the reflexes." With Vita Flex, the oils are applied on the contact points of the body. Energy is released through the electrical impulses by the contact between the fingertips and the reflex points. This stimulates an electrical charge that follows the pathways of the nervous system to where there is a break in the electrical circuit which will be directly related to an energy block caused by toxins, damaged tissues, or loss of oxygen. This reflex system of controls encompasses the entire body and mind. ...This technique was believed to have originated in Tibet many thousands of years ago, long before acupuncture was ever discovered.

We know that essential oils also contain electromagnetic properties. Therefore, using essential oils with vita flex enhances the process that much more and drives the oils into the corresponding reflex points.

Pretty cool, eh?!
